The DS16 sailboat is a excellent sailor and handle very well and point well into the wind also very stable boat and easily sailed by one person and easy to trail behind a small car . There are actually five different version of the boat . The very first DS16 was built on November 17'1968 a couple were made in that year and in 1969 it was all go. The first series DS16's were a open cabin boat with a vee berth for overnight sailing trips optional cabin curtain and other options. These first boats had a lead filled centerboard approximately 125 pounds.

The second series boat was called a DS16 Mark two same boat just extra lead ballast in the keel this boat came on the scean in mid 1973. Then in 1975 came the DS16 Mark Three same boat again but had a Shoal Draft Keel with 260 pounds of ballast in the keel and a fiberglass cuddy cabin closer.

In 1976 these boats were redesigned to have a closed cabin and the deck and cabin height was raised by three inches . There was two models the DS16-C it now has a steel plate centerboard 185 pounds and the DS16-K 260 pounds ballast the later boats had a self draining cockpit . These boats were in production till the closer of the company in 1992 . There is a E group on yahoo groups for the DS16 sailboat and the DS20 and DS22 boats aswell for anyone wanting information on the DS16
