Break out the plans and look at the June Bug

Article By Shorty

This is the early bunch.

We moved under the shade and started to break out the familiar brown envelopes full of plans. You know that feeling when you hear the sound an ATM machine makes just before it gives you the cash? That is the feeling I get when I see one of those 9x12 brown envelopes. Just can't wait to get it open and look at the blue prints inside!

A little more speculation before we open those plans. The blue aluminum row boat in the background is the official table. We brought it under the shade then discussed some details of various boat while looking over the plans. I was a little too interested and forgot to take pictures.

We then mosied over to Tim's June Bug.

Up goes the mast. Notice that we are following strict government construction standards: 1 person working while 3 people supervise.

If you have been following Tim's wood rot problems on eGroup, here is the nastiest section at the bow. Tim proclaims that this June Bud is his "most neglected" boat.

It sure does look good for being "neglected".

Isn't this a neat little model?

It is one of Michalak's called "Trilars", a conversion of Larsboat. The catalog I have shows it as a prototype, meaning Michalak doesn't know built version of this design.

I wonder if the model would be enough to get it out of the prototype catalog and into the regular one. :)
