Setup and Sail Out There

When driving in Texas, observe the number one rule of the road: Whoever is bigger has the right of way.

Bright and early, I arrived about 8:45am. Already there and setting up at the ramp was Hugh & his Hunt 5.2 on the left and Bill with Sparrow 12 on the right. The parking lot was fairly full of fishing boat trailers, Palacios seems to attract many of them. While pulling up I had spotted Louis's Potter 15 at the Luther Hotel, he spent Friday night there.

First one to set sail was Hugh, then Bill, both of them circled waiting for me while I was confirming with Wayne exactly where we should go. Wayne has been out there before and knows the area.

This is my Holder 12 board boat, and John's Hobie Monocat. Funny story - about a year ago I saw someone near Lake Houston with a utility trailer pulling a hull that looked exactly like this. Had never seen one before, I posted around looking for more info about it and couldn't find any info online. By the end of the weekend John and I determined that I must have seen him.

There they are waiting for me, like buzzards circling over their next meal. Being slightly up wind they should have a speed advantage as I come out of the launch point, if timed right they could swoop down on me.

Just so happens that my boat is best on a broad reach, and I snuck right past them. Catch me if you can guys !!!
